Water supply problems at Clothall Road.

As you will know, water supply is a part of your plot rent each year. This water supply is metered and paid for by NHDC. It has been noted recently, by NHDC officials, that the use of water on Clothall Road is something approaching twice the usage per head of other sites in North Herts. Now in part that can be explained by the light and free draining nature of the soil on Clothall Road site. This means that more water has to be distributed to get crops to thrive. However, there is also an element of wastage that is caused by careless use of hoses for filling on plot water stores. Many of the hose systems used to fill butts and barrels are not water tight. This means there is wastage when they are in use. The worst cause of water wastage is the habit of some tenants to leave hoses attached and taps turned on for extended periods of time when there is not a need for filling barrels etc.. Because people do not trun off taps when they are finished means three things 1/. Other people cannot use the tap for water supply to their plot, 2/. Water is wasted from leaking joints and perished pipework 3/. If this wastage is not checked then the water supply could well be turned off by NHDC.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE HOSES ATTACHED TO TAPS AND LEFT RUNNING UNATTENDED. WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE HOSE FROM THE SUPPLY TAP.

IF YOU SEE PEOPLE IGNORING THESE RULES THEN PLEASE POINT OUT THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS OR REPORT THE INCIDENT TO THE SITE REPRESENTATIVE.
